Service Technician​
 

Location: New York City (All Boroughs) and Long Island

Compensation: $20 – $28 per hour (based on verifiable experience)
Schedule: Monday to Friday (occasional Saturdays)

Routes begin at 3:00 AM and generally end by midday
Employees must be able to arrive at their first stop at that time

What Your Day Will Look Like at UPCS

Your day starts early, arriving at your first stop between 2:00 and 3:00 AM. Because you prepared the night before—stocking, organizing, and loading your company vehicle—you can begin your route with confidence and efficiency. Throughout the day, you will service a mix of residential and commercial properties, carefully inspecting for signs of pest activity such as droppings, the presence of insects or rodents, and conditions that could lead to infestations. Using modern Integrated Pest Management (IPM) techniques, you will treat and help prevent issues involving rodents, roaches, bedbugs, and more, making a real impact on the health and safety of the people and spaces you serve.

This is a hands-on, active role: you will carry equipment from your vehicle, bend to inspect under equipment, access tight spaces, and enter basements and storage areas. Each stop is an opportunity to solve problems, protect our clients, and take pride in visible results. As you progress through your route, you will document your services through clear reports, ensuring transparency and quality. At the end of the day, you will prepare your vehicle again—restocking and organizing—so you are ready to succeed the next day.

Job Description

We are looking for a motivated, responsible individual with a willingness to learn to join our team as a Pest Control Technician.

The technician will be responsible for protecting homes and businesses from insects, rodents, and other pests, ensuring professional, high-quality service.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform interior and exterior inspections of residential and commercial properties.

• Identify current or potential infestations and assess their scope.

• Develop and implement treatment plans in accordance with product labels and DEC regulations.

• Install traps and exclusion devices.

• Remove pests captured in traps, including mice and rats.

• Apply pesticides safely and effectively.

• Educate customers on prevention and post-treatment care.

• Maintain accurate records of services, payments, and customer needs using FieldRoutes.

• Keep vehicle, tools, and equipment clean and in good condition.

• Assist with inspections for new accounts and sales opportunities as needed.

• Ability to begin the workday at 2:00 AM.

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Minimum of one (1) year of prior experience as a pest control apprentice or technician.

• NY Technician License preferred, or willingness to obtain it within six (6) months (training available).

• Valid driver’s license.

• Ability to kneel, crawl, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 lbs .

• Ability to use or learn FieldRoutes and Slack during the probationary period.

• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

• Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.

• Positive attitude, attention to detail, and a solution-oriented mindset.

• Ability to speak English preferred.
